After Apple Picking

The most important aspect of setting a goal, I think, is determining what ones motivation is. Motivations could be intrinsic or extrinsic. For example: in the poem “After Apple-Picking”, the man in the story once was curious to pick apples. He once had intrinsic motivation to pick apples, but after a while he realizes that now he is not so happy and maybe now only has extrinsic motivations like the money that he might need. Through the use of hyperboles, the author conveys a message of the torture of doing something that one does not enjoy doing, for the rest of time.
Frost uses many hyperboles in his poem to make it understandable that there will be suffering when people do something that they do not enjoy. I believe this is true because if people spend too much time doing something they dislike, even if it is the smallest amount of distaste, those people will eventually become restless. In the poem, Frost states, “Load on Load” (l.26). This shows how impatient the man is getting with his work. This is not the only reason the author uses this literary element.
Frost also uses hyperboles to create an image for the reader. I think using these exaggerations displays a vivid image of the story from the authors point of view. Frost states, “There were ten thousand fruit to touch” (l .30). This hyperbole gives an image of what the author sees when he looks at the orchard. In this case, the author sees millions of apples that he must pick, instead of just a beautiful orchard.
With the use of hyperboles, the author suggests to be cautious to what one chooses to do, because it could end up with suffering. This message is important because one little decision could affect the rest of ones life and how that person lives it. If I could do some for the rest of my life and money was no object, I would make music, any source of music. This may not have any affect on society, but it is something very special to me. Music is a big part of almost EVERYONES life and I believe it always will be.

If I could . . .

If I could change something that has previously happened in my life, it would have to be my freshman year. To be specific, I would change my work habits. Freshman year was probably the worst year I have been through, Grades wise. I not only did awful in Biology, but I also did horrible in Geometry and Spanish. My report card was mostly “B”s and “C”s. Now I know that is still passing, but that is not enough. Just “passing” is not enough to get scholarships and recognized by great colleges.
That is why I have made a vow to myself and with some of my classmates to try my hardest and to get the best grades possible with my knowledge. I had a great start, but the bumpy part is coming. Grades are almost due and my “B”s are turning into “C”s fast. But I know if I keep the support of my peers and teachers and work hard, then I can get myself back up there.
This may also effect my friends. If I was to do better last year, It might have inspired them to also do better. Although I do regret this, There is nothing I can do about it now. All I can do is to try harder this year and the years ahead.

Volleyball

My favorite hobby would have to be volleyball. Now, I know what everyone is thinking, “But you are soooo short!”. Yes, I am short, but I think I am still a pretty decent player. I may not be able to spike very well, but I am decent at the other positions/moves including bumping, setting, and serving. I have played Volleyball for about 3 years, but gave up on it when I reached high school. I played beach volleyball last summer and I plan on playing for a while.
This is not just a sport that I have to play with a team or group of people, I can also play solo. Just going outside and bumping/setting the ball to myself will entertain me. The advantage about this hobby is that all my friends love this sport also. This way, if I do not want to play alone, I know I have someone to mess around with.

1D ;*

When asked: “What is your favorite band?” I immediately think this question will be impossible to answer. This is a very difficult question, because of the large variety of music we all have to choose from. After thinking this over, I came to decide on one of my favorite bands. Go on, laugh all you want, but I LOVE ONE DIRECTION! One direction is an English boy band formed in London in 2010, consisting of members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
The kind of music I like would have to be pop and dance, and they fit that genre perfectly. I like their music because it is not only catchy, but it is the kind of music you can just plain out dance to. It may not be “Homecoming style” music, but it is the “home alone, crank it up, I am going to dance ridiculously in front of the mirror” style music.
Not only is their music danceable, but also it is relatable. Of course they are a group of teenage boys, but that is what makes their music so real. They are real teens, talking/singing about times that real teen go through.
That is why I LOVE ONE DIRECTION!
